Direct bus service from M.I.A. to Cirkewwa.

In a press converence held on Monday July 2nd It was announced that as from Monday July 9th a new bus service is going to be held from Malta International Airport to Cirkewwa terminal ferry and vice versa.

This service will be most welcome by tourists and locals alike arriving in Malta for Gozo as it shortens travelling time from Malta International Airport to Gozo.

That this is another service that Gozo Channel is offering to improve the island’s tourism industry in Gozo. The newest buses will be used and the importance of punctuality will be emphasised.

With tickets subsidised by Gozo Channel, the time-table has been scheduled to coincide with the most popular flights. A specific meeting point will be designated at Malta International Airport and visitors will be accompanied for a non-stop journey to Cirkewwa termilal ferry.

This new bus service is aimed to increase the number of foreign and local tourist travelling to Gozo as their holiday destination.

According to statistics collected by the Gozo Tourism Assosiation, about 75,000 to 80,000 incoming tourists visit Gozo as opposed to Malta as the main destination of their choice, but this figure is only in respect of tourists staying in hotels and guest houses, which account for half of the island’s accommodation capacity. The other half is taken up by farmhouses and other self-catering accommodation.

It was also declared that there will be eight direct return journeys on a daily basis from Malta International Airport to Cirkewwa. A person helping tourists with their luggage will greet tourists at the arrivals lounge at the airport.

The bus fare is Lm2.15 (€ 5).

The introduction of this new bus service will make Gozo more accessible, will help the Gozitan Tourism Industry and will surely provide more work to touristm operators in Gozo.
