Christmas 2005 The Christmas set of postage stamps that Maltapost plc is issuing this year is an exceptionally beautiful set, which allows one to admire the artistic beauty that embellishes the National Sanctuary of Our Lady of Ta’ Pinu in Gozo. Marsalforn bay is situated between the villages of Zebbug and Xaghra. Only half an hour walk from Victoria or six minutes by bus. On the way to Marsalforn, on the left hand side there is a characteristic hill know as il-“Merzuq”. From bygone times, people erroneously believed that this hill, because of its shape, once was a volcano. On top of this hill in 1901 a huge wooden cross was erected. Later it was replaced by a stone statue and recently by another statue of Christ Our Saviour. For more pictures: Please Click Here
